Finishing Those Last Minute Holiday Gifts!
The holidays. When you are a crafter who enjoys making holiday gifts for friends and family it is a very busy time of year. Sometimes I think I could give Santa's Elves a run for their money. I know my mom could. She makes almost all her holiday gifts. Right now we are both trying to finish felt stockings. My mom is making one for one of her grand-kids and I am making one for my daughter. She is almost finished with the stocking, but still has other gifts to make. I imagine she will be sewing, knitting, crafting, all the way up to Christmas Eve. All I have left is my daughter's stocking, which is a doozy. I have promised it will be finished by Christmas Eve. So here's the progress. A lot is finished, but I have a whole fairy to go. Wish me luck and good luck to all those crafters out there wrapping up their holiday crafting.

Holiday Season - Lesson Learned
This holiday season is Jenny Lin Creations's first holiday season and it's been a lesson learned. I felt rushed in my crafting to get items on Etsy. I never really thought of the season and needing to make crafts before the holiday. Now I think I'm going to holiday craft all year around. If I have an idea I need to make it. So, I need to think Christmas whether it's December or July.
There is a lot less free time during the holidays. With homeschooling 2 kids, a husband working full time and going to college, running a house-hold, free time is already limited. When you add multiple holiday dinners, buying gifts, and all the other activities, it's even more difficult to find a moment. When I find that moment it's nice to just craft and not worry about rushing to get something on Etsy.
I know the same is true for my mom. She has 6 grandchildren and she makes all of their Christmas presents. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas it's crunch time for her. I know she is spending every free moment trying to get that special gift finished by Christmas Day, So thinking of making creations for Etsy is not in the fore front of her thoughts.
So, lesson learned. Think holiday crafts all year long. Make them, do the write ups for them, then save them for the holidays. Then when the holidays come around we can spend that special free time for crafting gifts or for pleasure and not feel rushed or overwhelmed.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a great time of year but it's also the beginning of a lot of hustle and bustle. There are families to visit, foods to eat, and for some lots of travel. With the business of the holiday sometimes it's hard to relax even for just a moment. That's why I love crafting. For a little while I'm not thinking of the sweets that need to be baked, the gifts that need to be bought, or making sure everyone has a fantastic holiday. It's nice to sit down and create something new, or work on something I've already designed. So take a moment this holiday season to do something you enjoy and forget about the craziness the holiday brings!
We wish everyone a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!

Great Holiday Gift!
My mom made this beautiful hand sewn tote bag, which can be found in our shop Jenny Lin Creations. I love the texture of the buttons and how they bring out the flower pattern in the material. Inside are two pockets that could fit a wallet or cell phone. This bag is nice and roomy without seeming overly large. In fact I would like one. My kids take their reading tablets every where and this tote would fit my wallet, cell, keys, sunglasses, and their tablets. I could fit a small note pad with the grocery list. It would work great for a woman on the go.
You can check out this tote along with our other fabulous creations at Jenny Lin Creations.

New Creation!
We have added a new creation to our Etsy shop, Jenny Lin Creations, The Snowman Hoop. He was so much fun to stitch. I love the eyes and carrot nose buttons. I thought a blue scarf with a little bit of fringe would be the perfect touch. When I designed him I thought about my kids and how they would make a snowman. His arms are like if the kids found sticks and I gave him a light snow falling with the french knots. He is placed in a 10 inch wood stained hoop. I think he would be a lot of fun hanging on a wall surrounded by other fantastic holiday decorations.

New Projects!
I love the Holidays. It is so easy to find inspiration. From Halloween to New Years there are so many fun things all around us. The project ideas just pour out of us and it's hard to pick one creation at a time to craft.
I know my mom is working on a cute stuffed bunny and she always has socks on her knitting needles. With the recent cold blast I've gotten out a pair my mom has knitted for me and I love them. They are great to slip on while I'm stitching or reading a book with the kids. I love how comfy and cozy her socks are!
I am crafting a new Snowman Hoop for our Etsy shop. I am so excited about this hoop. I can't wait to see his button eyes and nose on him. I loved drawing him and picking the colors for him. I felt a light blue floss for the scarf would look great with the snow. I hope to have him finished in the next few days.
We hope all of you are getting ready for the holidays too. Leave a comment and let us know what exciting craft you are working on. We look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for stopping by!

Rainy Day Bookmark
I finally finished stitching the Rainy Day Bookmark. It took a few days longer then I had wanted, but I love how it came out. The little girl is so cute and adorable I almost want to keep the bookmark for myself.
I really like this pattern and was drawn to it right away. I knew it would look great on a bookmark. Originally I was going to stitch the words Rainy Day at the top, but I just couldn't get them to come out right, so I designed the clouds and sun. The little girl is a pattern out of the book Better Homes and Garden 2001 Cross Stitch Designs. I cross stitched the pattern using DMC floss on a pre-made bookmark. The french knots for the eyes were the hardest to stitch. It took several tries to get both the eyes the same size. I've been thinking of other ideas for the little rain coat girl, so you may see her again. Anyway here are a few pics to share.
My next project is a fall piece. I'll post pics of the materials I'm using for it soon. Thanks for visiting!

Featured Creation Spotted Cat Bookmark
I love getting away from the stress of life with a really good book. When I absolutely have to put down that fantastic book (which is often with my busy life) I like to have a cute, fun bookmark. When I saw these cats I knew I had to stitch them. They are so much fun and I love the hidden pink in the nose and ears. This bookmark is cross stitched using black and pink floss on a premade bookmark bordered with lace.
Thanks for stopping by. You can find the Spotted Cat Bookmark and our other creations at our Etsy shop Jenny Lin Creations.
