Bunnies, Puppies, and Bears, Oh My!

Corduroy Bunny
My mom makes the cutest, most huggable one of a kind stuffed animals. I've been taking pictures of them and it got me and my kids thinking about stuffed animals. My kids have had many stuffed animals over the years, but they have a few favorites that they would never part with.

Corduroy Teddy Bear
There's something about that memorable stuffed animal or toy that stays with you forever. I had several favorites. The one I remember the most is a puppy dog that looks a little like a Basset Hound. I got him as a gift when I was sick once. I still have have him somewhere, tucked away in a box. Talking to my kids about my favorite stuffed animal reminded me of him. It's so funny the things that make you remember the little things that you forgot.

Corduroy Puppy

What was your favorite stuffed animal? Or did you have a special toy? Share your favorite childhood toy with your kids or that special someone. I'm sure it's a good story!

New Additions to the Shop

I just wanted to give a little update on some new Halloween hoop art and a trick-or-treat bag just added to the shop.

I love the You look lovely hoop art. When I saw this piece of fabric I immediately thought the guy skeleton was telling the girl skeleton, "You look lovely". This is a one of a kind hoop. I won't be making another like it.

The two little owls are so cute! They look ready to trick-or-treat. I can hear them saying Happy Hootoween!

The trick-or-treat bag is a unique, one of a kind bag. All the Halloween decorations on the bag are hand stitched. It may be used year after year and makes a memorable keepsake.

That's just a few of the new additions. I've been working on Christmas ideas. Right now I'm stitching 2, Let It Snow, snowman Christmas ornaments. These are restock items and will be in the shop next week! So back to stitching!

Until next time! Enjoy your weekend!

Fall

Festive Fall Hand Knit Socks
Today is the first full day of Fall. I love this time of year. The leaves change colors, Halloween decorations go up. Color is everywhere before our eyes. Fall signals the beginning of the busy months and cooler weather. Already I can feel a little chill in the air and know it's time to bring out cozy socks and afghans for those chilly nights. It's time to think of Halloween costumes and decorations. There are so many Fall festivities too. Craft fairs, school fairs, harvest festivals, and much more. Fall is a fantastic, busy time of year!

Cozy Hand Knit Socks

My mom and I have been busy crafting and creating wonderful creations for Jenny Lin Creations. I have been working on some Halloween theme hoop art and a trick-or-treat bag. I hope to have them up within the next week or so. We have also been thinking about Christmas and have a few ideas that we look forward to sharing with you over the next few months. I can only give you a small hint. If you loved the stuffed teddy bears wait until you see the cute, cuddly creations my mom has made.

Work in progress!

I am definitely looking forward to the next few months and sharing some fun and exciting new creations with everyone. I'm looking forward to the upcoming seasons and sharing them with family and friends. My two youngest children will be 12 and 14 this Halloween, so most likely the last Halloween they trick-or-treat. I look forward to enjoying it with them and taking in all the sites and sounds of the season!

     Thanks for visiting!

Day 20

Create & Thrive's Month in the Life challenge - Finished

This is a beautiful purse on our site made by my mom. I chose this as a finished creation because it's one of my favorite things she has made for Jenny Lin Creations.

Day 15

Create & Thrive's Month in the Life challenge, Rest.

With stitching, having a business, homeschooling 2 kids, and running a household, there is not a lot of rest. However when I do get the chance, I love to read. My current book is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. It's a big book, 850 pages, so it will take me awhile.

Day 14

Create & Thrive's Month in the Life challenge, Vignette.

Here is a vignette of what I'm working on at the moment, snowflakes. Yes, I know it's still summer, but I've been thinking of snowflakes, snowmen, stockings, and all things winter holidays.

Day 12

Create & Thrive's Month in the Life challenge, Favorite.

My most favorite creation is the first creation I designed. I had always cross stitched from patterns. My Halloween Trick-or-Treat bag is the first time I sketched out my own designs. I loved choosing the floss colors and stitching techniques. From there I was hooked. I still stitch from patterns or kits, but most things I stitch are designed by me.

Day 10

Create & Thrive's Month in the Life challenge, Inspiration.

Inspiration can come from anywhere, spending time with family, spending time out doors, going for a walk, or a quiet moment. For me, my inspiration comes from several places.....

Color. It's everywhere and you see it in everything. You can even put colors together to make new colors. Fabric. You can make almost anything. Floss. You can stitch with any color, on any fabric, anywhere.

My family. My husband works full time and is a college student. His hard work and dedication inspire me. My kids dreamy ideas and their fresh look on the world inspire me. My mom is not only my business partner, but also my teacher. She inspires me to create, craft, and to make anything and everything.

Day 8

Create & Thrive's Month in the Life challenge, Branding.

I love this image. You can find it on all of our sites and our business card. It's so colorful, fun, and elegant. It fits exactly what we do, sewing, needlecrafts, and knitting.

Day 7

Create & Thrive's Month in the Life challenge, Packaging.

Each of our creations are carefully packaged in tissue paper and wrapped like a present. They are then placed in a bubble wrap envelope or box depending on the creation. We want our customers to receive their order in a nice little package safe and secure.

Day 6

Create & Thrive's Month in the Life challenge, Action.

My mom just recently taught me how to sew with a sewing machine. So here I am practicing my stitches. I'm looking forward to making some sewing creations for Jenny Lin Creations.

Day 5

Create & Thrive's Month in the Life challenge, sketchbook.

I use a giant easel pad or copy paper as my sketchbook. If I plan on sketching out a drawing I'll use the easel pad. I love having a huge piece of paper in front of me to draw. If I get an idea and want to draw it out right away, I'll just grab copy paper and draw it out. Being a crafter  and homeschooling mom, I have paper everywhere.

If you open up the easel pad this is what you see. A lot of times, if I draw something I want to keep, I cut it out.

Day 4

Create & Thrive's Month in the Life challenge, Raw Materials.

As an embroiderer I use many materials. Here are just a few. I used these buttons for leaves on my Autumn Hoop.

I love floss. There are so many colors to choose from!

Day 2 of Create & Thrive Month In The Life challenge, hands.

It's hard taking a picture of your hands while holding a camera. I tried to get one of my kids to take the picture, but they are teenagers and have no patience. So today my challenge is just hand.

Jenny Lin Creations is participating in Create & Thrive's Month In The Life challenge on Pinterest and on Facebook. I thought this would give us a great opportunity to let you see some of our creative process and learn a little more about us. So here is Day 1 of the challenge. Workspace.

This is my workspace.  We have a room set up in our home for art projects. My daughter has her easel and paints while I have my craft table. I love this craft table. It is so big I can sew at one end and stitch at the other. This is where I brainstorm new ideas, create new creations, and take care of business.

Where do you craft? You can share your workspace on Intsagram, Facebook, or Pinterest with Create & Thrive.

Up and coming challenges.

What's New?

The flowers have bloomed, the trees have leaves, summer is right around the corner. It seems like I was just talking about the constant cold weather and snow. How time flies! I have been busily designing new designs and stitching away. I thought I would take a break and let you know what Jenny Lin Creations is up to.

We added quite a few things the last couple weeks. I've been busy designing and hand stitching new cards. We have a Graduation 2014 Card, a Birthday Card, and a 10 pack of Thank You Cards. I also have plans for Father's Day Cards that will be available next week. These cards are unique and fun, and make memorable keepsakes.

Along with the cards, I've also been working on a few hoop art ideas and some more onesies. We recently added a Play Ball Sports Theme Hoop for a child's room. I love outline stitching different fabrics and I thought the baseball theme suited this time of year. I also added two Established 2014 onesies. One long sleeve and one short sleeve. I'll be adding a 2015 within the next month or two.

My mom has been busy as well. She has knitted some fabulous organic washcloths that will be added to the shop soon. We will have two, 4 packs of washcloths in various sizes. She has also been working on a project knitting afghans for wounded soldiers. We can only hope these beautiful afghans can provide a little comfort for our American Heroes.

In business news, we have recently decided the Made Freshly site isn't for us. So over the next few weeks our inventory from there will be added to our Etsy shop. We have an Oriental Hand Bag and another cute Child's Bag to add, along with a few other fabulous creations.

We have so many ideas and so little time. I have about a month left with my 2 day a week part time job. I'm looking forward to jumping in even more into the shop and it becoming a full time job for me. I want to spend time at my sewing machine and bring all these ideas I have to life. I want to give more of my time to our fiber shop Little Bit of Heaven Fibers. I'm looking forward to being busy and creative over the next couple of months!

You can check out our fabulous creations at Jenny Lin Creations and for more frequent update follows us on facebook.com/jennylincreations.

Thanks for visiting!

Finally Spring

After a long cold winter it is finally spring. My mom and I are definitely looking forward to the warmer weather and fun new creations to fit the season.

In March we added a new purse handmade by my mom, Linda, with fabric from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The rainbow colors with the blue fabric are so beautiful. We also added draw string pouches made from the same type of fabric. These pouches are great for carrying small accessories like jewelry and cosmetics.

A new edition to our shop is hand stitched onesies. These onesies have original designs hand drawn and stitched by me. The first onesie we had in our shop has sold but we have plans for Spring and Easter onesies soon.

For April my mom and I are thinking Spring colors and bunnies. My mom is working on a pattern for cute, cuddly, stuffed bunnies while I have been working on bunny designs. We have lots of ideas and plan to have new creations added through out the month.
Made with fabric from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Also in honor of it finally being Spring we are having a 10% off finally Spring sale. Just use coupon code FINALLYSPRING at both Jenny Lin Creations Etsy shop and our Made Freshly site Jennylincreations.com and receive 10% off your purchase.

My mom and I are very excited for the up coming months and the crafting ideas summer will bring. The Jenny Lin Creations blog will feature a monthly news letter of the things we've been up to and the plans ahead. For more frequent updates you can follow us on our Jenny Lin Creations Facebook page.

     Thanks for stopping by!
